Venue, Travel, and Norwich

The meeting will be held in the historic OPEN Norwich building, located in the heart of Norwich city centre just a few minutes’ walk away from most major transport routes into Norwich, including Norwich train station. Please visit the OPEN Norwich website for more information.

How to get there

OPEN Noriwch is located in the heart of Norwich City Centre, at 20 Bank Plain, Norwich NR2 4SF.

By car

From London take M11, then the A11. From the North and the Midlands, you can use the A47 via Kings Lynn or the A14 to Newmarket & then the A11 to Norwich. When arriving into Norwich, there is plenty of sign posted parking available. For Sat Nav users, the postcode is NR2 4SF.

Parking

Secure nearby parking is available across Norwich. Three multi storey car parks are within a five minute walk from Rose Lane, Castle Mall and St Andrews Car Park. All offer great evening tariffs from as little as £1.50 (6pm onwards).  Click here for a downloadable map of all car parks in Norwich.

By train

There are direct trains to Norwich from London Liverpool Street Cross (approx 1 hour 50 minutes). There are also direct trains from a number of regional stations including Peterborough, Cambridge and Ipswich.  For further information visit the National Rail Enquiries website, Trainline, or call +44 (0)8457 48 49 50.

OPEN is about a 10-minute walk from Norwich Train Station: Walk straight up Prince of Wales Road and turn right towards Upper King Street, then head left on Queen Street, cross the traffic lights and you will see OPEN straight ahead on the left hand side.

By aeroplane

Norwich is served by an international airport with daily (or near-daily) flights to/from Manchester, Edinburgh, and Exeter, as well as multiple daily flights to/from Amsterdam.

From the airport, it is straightforward to get into Norwich City Centre: A taxi typically costs £8–9; an express local bus into the city centre will cost in the region of £4–5.

By bus

National Express coaches operate services all over the UK.  Megabus offers low cost intercity travel to Norwich from a number of places in the UK. They also offer a frequent direct service from London.

Once in Norwich, buses run regularly along Castle Meadow, St Stephens Street, and Norwich Bus Station throughout the day and early evening — all of which are within walking distance of OPEN.

By bicycle or on foot

OPEN is located directly in Norwich city centre and is within a five minute walk on major attractions such as Norwich Chapelfield shopping centre, the Castle Mall, Norwich Castle, Norwich Cathedral & beautiful river walks. There are cycle racks located on many of the pathways around OPEN.

Norwich is also home to bicycle schemes such as Bike & Go and the mobile pay-as-you-go service ofo.

Places to eat

The map below shows a variety of restaurant, pub, and cafe suggestions in and around the conference venue, most of which are unique, local Norwich establishments.  Purple hearts denote several particular favourites.

We are very lucky to have such a great dining scene in Norwich, and suggest that if guests just want to wander and find somewhere, they should keep to Tombland, St Benedicts and around the Market Place and Lanes (historic area with loads of indpendent shops and eateries).
